About the event
Newsam Aerial Dance is a St. Louis-based company founded by sisters Monica and Graciela Newsam in 2015. Originally from Panama, the sisters created the Newsam Aerial Dance to share their passion for aerial arts with a wider audience. After relocating to St. Louis, Monica continued to pour into the company and further expand its reach. Monica continues to teach alongside her sister Graciela in France during the summer, and has dedicated the rest of her time to sharing the wonders of this art form.
Monica developed an original aerial dance curriculum, which she introduced to Webster University’s Dance Department in 2006. When she’s not teaching, she’s hosting aerial workshops or working with her sister on the next installment of her Aerial Dance for Dancers book series—They're currently working on her fourth!
